LAND RIGHTS NOW
Xulu Waura should make the news.
Xulu ( Xulu Waura) is a 25-year-old young man from the Wauja people, residing in the Alto Xingu Indigenous Territory, Mato Grosso, Brazil. He is currently the secretary of the Youth Movement of the Xingu Indigenous Territory (MJTIX) and continues his grandfather's fight to protect his land and the sacred Kamukuwaká Cave. In his testimony, he highlights the severe impacts of climate change on his community, such as drought, crop loss, and agrochemical contamination. His main demand at forums like the COP is to ensure that the voice of Indigenous youth is heard by governments, emphasizing that the forest is essential for the culture, health, and identity of his people.
